Prevalence is 2.7-5.8% and is more common in female than male. The most important diagnostic method is electrophysiologic study of median nerve. Materials and Methods: This case-control study has done on 34 patients with CTS and 44 healthy cases underwent electrophysiologic study. The diameter of nerve was measured at site of compression and also at a more proximal site in patients. Results: In CTS group increased significant distal latency in motor and sensory conduction and proximal motor latency of median nerve was noticed. The altitude of sensory median nerve and conduction velocity of median nerve in CTS group was decreased significantly. Thenar atrophy was seen without relation with severity of nerve compression. The nerve diameter was decreased in severe cases of CTS group without significant differences. Conclusion: In CTS severity of anatomic changes are not the same as changes in electrophysiologic study. We present the case of a 68-year-old woman, referred to our department for critical upper limb ischemia, which had occurred a few days after homolateral surgical ligamentotomy for carpal tunnel syndrome, diagnosed and confirmed by electromyography, and performed with a brachial tourniquet. The patient was later admitted for subsequent progressive necrosis of the first three fingers of the left ...

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between changes observed in an ultrasonography before and after the surgical release of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Methods: This prospective study was performed on 15 candidates of CTS surgery during 2017-2018 who underwent an ultrasonography before and three months after the surgery. The structural changes in the median nerve and the...
متن کاملآیا جراحی سندرم تونل کارپ در قدرت دست تاثیر میگذارد؟
Background & Aims: Carpal tunnel surgery is mostly performed in the field of hand surgery. During the procedure the transverse carpal ligament is cut. This ligament has an important role in the strength of the hand. Objective evaluation of the hand strength can be used as a judgment of patient’s ability to return to the previous level of their hand function. The purpose of this study was to eva...

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common focal mono-neuropathy. A study was designed to compare the effects of traditional open carpal tunnel release with median neurolysis and Z-plasty reconstruction of the transverse carpal ligament on post-operative hand pain and hand function in patients with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. Methods: Fifty-two patients with idiopathi...
